The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has promised not to abandon beneficiaries of its foreign scholarship scheme in the United Kingdom (UK) and Canada.
Managing Director Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei spoke at the commission’s head office in Port Harcourt yesterday. He promised that the commission would meet its obligations to beneficiaries.
Pondei insisted the commission is committed to keeping to the terms of the scholarship, saying ‘we cannot send people out of the country and not pay their fees. We are doing everything possible to ensure beneficiaries of the post graduate scholarship progamme are paid. We have had meetings in the last two days to see how their problems can be alleviated.
“It is a very difficult situation and I have been there before so I know what it means to be hounded for fees, especially when you do not have living allowance to feed properly and pay your rents.”
